María Miret García (@periodistia) is an international freelance journalist specializing in health. She holds a degree in Information Sciences (Journalism) and a Master’s in Communication and Health. As a solutions journalist, she practices Constructive Journalism and received an honorable mention in the Solutions Journalism category of the 2024 Roche Health Journalism Award, granted by the Gabo Foundation. She is the creator of Almas Rotas, a journalism and mental health project.
She has worked with the National Association of Health Journalists (ANIS) and served as communications manager for European research projects focused on mental health. Her expertise includes the humanization of healthcare, the medicalization of life, and the social determinants of health. As a freelance journalist, she writes about health, well-being, and healthy lifestyles, covering topics such as mental and emotional health, and women’s health — including body-mind connection, personal development, and spirituality.
José Luis de la Serna
José Luis de la Serna: Specialist in Intensive Care Medicine. Deputy Head of the ICU at Puerta de Hierro University Hospital in Madrid (1977–1991). Deputy Director of the newspaper EL MUNDO and Head of the Health Section (1990–2015). Holds a PhD in Medicine with a dissertation titled “The Media as a Source of Health Information for Spanish Society” (2004). Executive Advisor at Atria Clinic (2021–present). Trustee of the HM Hospitals Foundation (2000–2024). President of Future Day Global, an institution that brings together art and science.
Terry Basterra
Terry Basterra: Graduated in Journalism from UPV/EHU. Holds a university master’s degree from UPV-EL CORREO. He worked for ten years at the newspaper EL COMERCIO in Asturias, where he also collaborated with RNE. He joined the editorial staff of El Correo in 2017, and since 2019 he has been in charge of health reporting. His features also appear in other newspapers within the Vocento group.
